COUNTY RANKS IN BOTTOM FIVE FOR RATES AMONG NURSING FACILITY STAFF

The Maryland Department of Health has ranked Allegany County in the bottom five jurisdictions for COVID vaccination rates among nursing facility staff. According to the Skilled Nursing Facilities Vaccination dashboard, only 59.4 per cent of staff at Allegany County’s skilled nursing facilities were fully vaccinated against COVID-19. According to Monday’s statistics, there are six new COVID-19 cases, with zero additional deaths. The Health Department reports that 40.6 per cent of all Allegany County residents are fully vaccinated, as compared to 58.5 per cent of all Marylanders. There will be another COVID vaccination clinic tomorrow on the ground floor of the Willowbrook Office Complex from 9 to noon for both the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. From 1 to 4 p.m., the Pfizer vaccine will be available for those age 12 and older.
