COUNTY CASE RATE REMAINS HIGHEST IN THE STATE

Allegany County’s COVID-19 case rate has remained the highest in the state of Maryland for six consecutive days, and has been among the highest since mid-August. There have been 105 cases reported since Tuesday, with three additional deaths. The positivity rate is nearly three times the state rate. Locally, that rate is 12.45 per cent; statewide, it is 4.37 per cent. There are just over 71 cases per 100,000 locally in Allegany County. The state reports 19.91 cases per 100,000. Just over 44 per cent of Allegany County residents are now fully vaccinated, compared to 63.8 per cent of all Marylanders. The Allegany County Health Department continues to offer free testing at the Fairgrounds, and free vaccination clinics each Wednesday.
