National Highway was closed for more than an hour Saturday, as a fire broke out at a home, located at the corner of National Highway and Park Avenue. LaVale volunteer firefighters say flames were coming from the third floor of the structure. At least a dozen fire and rescue companies from Allegany and Mineral Counties responded. The call came in around 2 p.m. The Allegany County Fire Police assisted with traffic control during the fire.
