FIRST ENERGY SEEKS APPROVAL FOR SOLAR FIELD IN W.VA.

First Energy subsidiaries, Mon Power and Potomac Edison are seeking approval from the West Virginia Public Service Commission to build five, utility scale, solar energy projects. The project would generate 50 megawatts of clean, renewable energy in their service area. The plan calls for solar fields to be constructed on a 26-acre ash disposal site in Berkely County, a 44-acre reclaimed strip mine in Tucker County and a 95-acre site in Monongalia County. The PSC is expected to rule on the application by mid-2022, and construction could be completed by 2025.
