WV REACHES $161.5 MILLION SETTLEMENT WITH DRUG MANUFACTURERS

West Virginia will receive more than 161-million dollars from two drug manufacturers as part of a lawsuit settlement.  The state’s attorney general alleged Teva and Allergan helped fuel West Virginia’s opioid crisis.  Patrick Morrisey accused the companies of using strategic campaigns to deceive people and misrepresent the risks of painkillers.  Morrisey said money from the settlement will be used to help “those affected the most by the opioid crisis in West Virginia.”  The settlement is believed to be the highest per capita settlement in the nation.
