STATE POLICE SUPERINTENDENT TO RETIRE

Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel Woodrow W. “Jerry” Jones III is retiring at the end of this year, after 35 years in law enforcement. Governor Larry Hogan has named Lt. Colonel Roland L. Butler to serve as Acting Superintendent. Prior to becoming superintendent in February of 2020, Colonel Jones served more than four years as chief of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. Lt. Colonel Butler is currently the chief of the Field Operations Bureau, and his new position takes effect on January 1st, following Colonel Jones’ retirement.
