MANY WEST VIRGINIA TEACHERS ARE NON-CERTIFIED

The number of non-certified teachers in classrooms has topped the 15-hundred level in West Virginia.  The number of non-certified teachers has grown steadily since 2015 when that number was about 600.  Last year there were 12-hundred non-certified teachers leading classroom learning.  Pay levels and adequate support from school administration and local school boards are cited as reasons for the low number of certified teachers applying for open positions.
