GARRETT FIRE DAMAGES ESTIMATED AT $1.3 MILLION

The cause of a fire at Automotive Machine in Garrett County is being investigated. The blaze caused more than $1.3 million in damage to the business, which is a full-service machine shop that has been serving the area for 30 years. Damage was set at $75,000 to the building and $1.25 million to its contents. Firefighters from Garrett, Allegany, Mineral and Preston Counties were on the scene, with hazardous materials teams from Allegany and Garrett counties containing a ruptured oil tank. The fire originated in the kitchen/break room area of the facility, and the cause is being investigated.
