West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin says he has “absolutely” considered becoming an independent. In an interview with a West Virginia radio station Thursday, Manchin said he’s been thinking of leaving the Democratic party for “quite some time.” He added that the Democrat and Republican brands have “become so bad” in Washington. Manchin is up for reelection next year and he has yet to rule out running for president in 2024.
