A new fee for state workers’ insurance plans is functioning properly, according to agency reps. When a spouse of a public employee selects coverage through PEIA instead of their employer, there is a surcharge they must pay. That is 147-dollars a month, and nearly 86-hundred spouses are choosing to pay the extra money to be covered under PEIA. That number is a bit fewer than what was anticipated.
