Congressman Andy Harris applauded the Maryland Department of Agriculture for awarding one-point-nine-million-dollars to food banks across the state so they can buy wild-caught Chesapeake blue catfish filets. The program, funded through the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service, will provide 283-thousand pounds of catfish for statewide distribution. The First District Republican says food banks are now supplied with the invasive catfish – turning an environmental challenge into a resource that strengthens the seafood industry and supports Maryland families in need.
