GARTH FAN RECEIVES $65K

A Garth Brooks fan has received $65,000 as compensation after she was injured during one of his concerts, according to Billboard.

Jean Ann Crenshaw, a Kentucky woman, nearly lost an eye in a freak accident at Brooks’ Bridgestone Arena concert in Nashville on December 9, 2017.

The concert included a balloon and confetti drop from the rafters. The balloons failed to drop properly, and when a worker tried to shake them loose using a metal pole, he accidentally dropped the metal pole into the audience.

The pole struck Crenshaw, who was looking up to try to catch a balloon, beneath her eye, resulting in a broken nose and other injuries.

Iden Entertainment, the balloon company, took responsibility for the accident. Crenshaw’s nose was broken and scar tissue blocked her tear ducts. Iden’s insurance company, State Farm, agreed to a $65,000 settlement, covering $25,000 in medical fees and $40,000 for additional damages.

“We do something wrong, we take ownership,” Iden General Manager and Vice President R.J. Monds tells Billboard.

He added that the accident was the first the company experienced out of more than 2,000 balloon drops in over 20 years.
