Hospice of Garrett County Walk

Saturday, June 15, 2024, from Noon to 3 p.m.

Thye 29th Annual Walk for Hospice will host their largest fundraiser of the year, and they are excited to announce the walk is coming to Grantsville. There will be food, raffles, and a Celebration of Life Ceremony with a beautiful butterfly release. DJ Johnny Rock will provide entertainment and Diehl’s Ford has graciously sponsored tghe luncheon and butterfly release. The event begins at Noon, rain or shine, at the Grantsville Town Park-Pavilion #3. Anyone collecting $50 or more in donations will receive an event shirt. The top two fundraisers will earn cast prizes.

Justin Smith Benefit

The Cumberland Democrat Club will be hosting a benefit for Justin Smith.The event will include a cornhole tournament, beginning at 1 p.m. basket raffles at 6 p.m., and a spaghetti meal. Oakland Nursing & Rehab Carnival

Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Oakland Nursing and Rehab Center will host a carnival from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 20th. Tickets will be sold for the games and bouncy houses. A dunk tank will be available to dunk administrative staff for a donation. Baked goods, walking tacos, hamburgers, hot dogs and macaroni or potato salad, and chips will be sold from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a silent auction and 50/50 proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association. Lots of events are held on June 20th—the longest day of the year—to raise money from the Alzheimer’s Association. This day is to honor those who are caregivers of loved ones with dementia. Cumberland/Frostburg Farmer’s Markets

Now through October, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Farmer’s Markets in Cumberland and Frostburg will continue through October. In Cumberland, they are held Thursdays, through October 24th; in Frostburg, on Fridays, at City Place, through October 25th; and, again in Cumberland, at the Canal Place Depot, on Saturdays, through October 26th. Hours for each are 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dates and times for the Frostburg Winter Market have yet to be determined. Vendor applications for the Cumberland and Frostburg markets are closed for this year. Take advantage and buy locally produced fruits, vegetables, plants, meats, and other items at the Farmer’s Market!

The Garrett Lakes Arts Festival presents Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. The show will be at the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College. Friday After Five Set for July, August, September

Shows Begin at 6 p.m.

The Downtown Development Commission is pleased to
announce its plans for this year’s Friday After Five live music series. The free live music shows are a
tradition in downtown Cumberland.

This year’s schedule includes:
Friday, July 12 – Night Traveler opens for Hillbilly Biscuits
Friday, August 2 – Black Guy Fawkes opens for Slick Rick & the Blaze
Friday, September 13 – Byrne String Band opens for Megan Jean’s Secret Family

The June and July shows will take place on South Centre Street outside Mezzos. The location for the
August and September shows will be determined closer to the dates. All shows begin at 6PM and end at
10:30PM. There will be an open container ordinance in effect throughout the DDC district on the night of the performances.

Glade Highlands Antique Iron Association Tractor Show

June 15 & 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Glade Highlands Antique Iron Association will hold its 23rd annual Tractor Show on Saturday and Sunday, June 15th and 16th from 9 to 5 each day. There’ll be a tractor ride on Saturday and Chicken Barbecue and Tractor Square Dance on the 16th. The event is being held near Shanksville, Pa., along Route 160 in Unity Church Grove. Cumberland Historic Ghost Tours

Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cumberland Historic Ghost Tours will conduct a one-hour walking tour of Cumberland’s most haunted sites on Saturday, June 15th at 7 p.m. The tour will begin at the Allegany County Library on Washington Street, and continue through the historic district, exploring supernatural sightings reported by area resident.
