The Oakland Elks Lodge #2481 will hold the annual Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest in the auxiliary gym at Southern High School on Saturday, December 2nd. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the contest beginning at 11 a.m. The Hoop Shoot is open to boys and girls, ages 8 to 13. Parents should bring proof of the child’s age for registration. Mark your calendar for the “Christmas in Romney” Dog Pageant on Saturday, December 2nd. The walk starts at 11 a.m., and judging will begin at noon. Get your furry friends all dressed up and ready to strut their stuff. There is a $5 registration fee. The proceeds from the event will be dedicated to supporting local animal shelters. And then all proud pooches and their owners are invited to come back the next Saturday and join the “Christmas in Romney” Parade, December 9th at noon. The Salisbury-Elk Lick Education Association is holding its annual “Cram-a-Van” Toy Drive on Wednesday, December 6th from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. This will be held on Smith Avenue, in front of the Salisbury-Elk Lick High School. You can donate new, unwrapped boys and gift cards for children, newborn through 18. Monetary donations are also appreciated! the official drop off date is December 6th; however, toys may be dropped off at the high school office o elementary school office prior to that date. The Salisbury-Elk Lick Education Association works in conjunction with the Salisbury Family Center to distribute gifts to families in the area.

The Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department is having a Santa Breakfast on Saturday, December 16th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Donation of $10 per person, 13 years old to adult; $5 for 5 to 12 year olds; children, 4 and under, will be free. The menu consists of pancakes, scrambled eggs, toast, sausage links, milk, orange juice, tea and coffee. Bring the children and meet Santa Claus!
