Morning Star Temple #1, Pythian Sisters is sponsoring a bus trip to the Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for the stage production of “David” on Saturday, November 5, 2022. The cost of the trip is $160.00 per person, which includes bus fare, show ticket, lunch at Hershey Farms and a donation to “Acting Out for ALS.” A deposit of $80 is due with the reservation and the remainder is due on September 15th. The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department will hold a chicken and rib BBQ on Saturday, September 3, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m. Half of a BBQ chicken or ribs with a roll for $8.00. Baked beans and cole slaw are available for $1 each. The dinner will be from 10 a.m. until sold out. The Fire Department is located at 178 Springs Road in Grantsville. Meal is carry out only. The 2022 Barton Fire Company Gun/Cash Bash will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Doors open at 2 p.m., at the Barton Fireman’s Armory on South Eutaw Street. There’s a $30 donation for a ticket; guest tickets are $10 each. All proceeds benefit the Barton Hose Company #1. No cash exchange for firearms. There is NO ATM on site. There’s a new menu, with pulled pork, Italian sausage, beer and soda. There will be several other food items available. Each ticket has two numbers to win. There’ll be $50 door prizes and Side Gun Tables for additional prizes.

The Cumberland Valley Parks and Recreation Department is having its Labor Day festival on Monday, September 5, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. There’ll be a Bounce House for the kids, food vendors, craft vendors, a chainsaw carver, a Cruise-In and pony rides. The 19th annual Toy Thunder Motorcycle Charity Ride will take place on Saturday, August 20th, beginning with registration from10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Kickstands up at noon! The ride leaves from Lashbaugh’s West Bar and Grill on West Main Street in Frostburg. The route will be announced. The cost to be a part of the ride is $10 per driver, and $10 per passenger. There will be raffles and tee-shirts, which will be $5.00. Proceeds will be used to buy toys for kids this Christmas. the organizer of the event is John W. The Mon Valley Railroad Historical Society is having a “Back To School Model Railroad Exhibit” at the Mountaineer Mall near Center Court on Saturday and Sunday, August 27th and 28th. Awards will be given for Best in Show, Oldest, Furthest Traveled, and the Blacker Family Choice.
