Governor Larry Hogan is putting some “teeth” into a recently enacted executive order, closing all non-essential businesses during the coronavirus pandemic. During a press conference, the Governor is now allowing local health departments to close businesses, which may be in violation of the order. The local health departments now have the authority to either modify operations, or effect a shutdown, possibly with the help of state and local law enforcement authorities. Governor Hogan also announced three teams to assist nursing homes in the state. The teams will be clinical in nature, along with assistance teams and clinical teams, which are not to replace staffs there, but to provide immediate support.
