Beginning today, the eastbound lane (towards Baltimore Street) of Washington Street will be closed between Prospect Square and Greene Street to allow repairs on the failed retaining wall at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The westbound lane remains in service. Detour signs will be installed to direct eastbound traffic towards Prospect Square, North Smallwood Street and Greene Street. Construction is expected to last six weeks, and the eastbound lane is expected to be closed until construction is completed. It will be reopened if it is finished earlier.
