HOGAN AUTHORIZES REOPENING OF SCHOOLS

Governor Larry Hogan has authorized schools across the state to safely reopen. Due to improved metrics, with all age groups under a five per-cent COVID-19 positivity rate, the decision was made to reopen. Sixteen school systems across the state have already approved plans for at least a partial reopening, while eight did not. According to Governor Hogan, it is quote, “unacceptable for schools to remain closed the rest of the school year.” While local school boards have the ultimate authority, Dr. Karen Salmon, the state Superintendent of Schools, says there is a $10 million incentive to implement a safe school opening.
