STATE OPENS UP EVICTION PREVENTION GRANTS

Governor Larry Hogan has announced that Maryland jurisdictions can begin applying for $16 million in eviction prevention grants. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is distributing federal block grant funding. Applications are due October 2nd. DHCD has already distributed $2.2 million in eviction prevention grants to eight counties. There is a moratorium on the eviction of any tenant who can demonstrate their inability to pay rent, stemming from the coronavirus. The order will remain in place for the duration of the state of emergency.
