LUKE PAPER MACHINES TO BE SOLD TO TURKISH COMPANY

Two massive paper making machines at the former Verso Luke Mill are being sold to a Turkish company. The mill shut down in June of last year, due to foreign competition, high operating costs and a sharp decline in demand for the coated paper, which had been produced at the mill. The machines were purchased for $11 million. There are other companies that are interested in other parts of the mill, including a company that produces concrete. That company has expressed interest in the warehouses at McCoole and Piedmont.
