GARRETT FIRE DEPARTMENTS RECEIVE FUNDING

Volunteer Fire Departments in Garrett County will receive just over a million dollars, in support of recruitment and retention activities. The award comes from the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant program. The announcement was made by U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin, along with U.S. Representative David Trone. The money was part of a larger, $14.8 million in  federal funding for firefighters in Garrett, Washington, and Frederick counties.
