Former Mineral County chief deputy circuit clerk Gary Feaster has been sentenced to two to 20 years in prison, after stealing as much as $87,000 over a three-year period. He was accused of pocketing money residents were paying through the clerk’s office for various fines. Several friends and family members testified on his behalf, noting that Feaster had addictions to both alcohol and gambling, but that, through counseling, he has improved. He was ordered to pay restitution to the court in the amount of $75,000 and an additional $41,666 to the State Auditor’s Office for the cost of the investigation. Feaster was remanded to the Division of Corrections yesterday to begin serving his sentence.
