BLACK BEAR HARVEST NUMBERS DOWN

Lower numbers are being reported for the annual black bear hunt, held last week in Washington, Allegany, Frederick, and Garrett Counties. A total of 117 bears were taken during the hunt, fewer than in 2018 and 2019. One of the factors entering into the lower count was bad weather. The average harvested bear weighed 155 pounds, while the largest was a 537 pound male, taken Frederick County.
