HOGAN OUTLINES NEW CORONAVIRUS STEPS

Governor Larry Hogan outlined a number of steps that will now be taken to help stem the surge of coronavirus cases in the state. During a press conference, Governor Hogan noted that Western Maryland hospitals are at their capacity limit; all visits are being prohibited, until further notice, with the exception of compassionate care, parents of minors, and specific instances. Also, beginning on Friday, all restaurants must close by 10 p.m. They must limit the number of people at a table to six; and, no standing at the bar will be allowed, due to social distancing restrictions. Retail businesses and churches must also limit capacity to 50 percent. Governor Hogan stressed that wearing a mask, or not wearing one, is not a political issue. Violations carry the full weight of the law; violators could be fined $5,000 and be forced to spend a year in prison. And, he added that this is not the “flu,” nor is it “fake news.” He says our friends and family members are counting on you, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask and adhering to the latest directives.
