Shortly after it was announced that Al-Gar Federal Credit Union would merge with Chessie, comes word that Kelco Federal Credit Union on Greene Street will also merge with Chessie. Last May, Kelco’s Board of Directors approved a proposition to merge with the credit union. There will be a special meeting on December 11th at 3:30 p.m., and the meeting will have two purposes, one of which will be to merge Kelco with Chessie; secondly the meeting will be to approve the action of the Board members. Reasons for the merger were listed in a letter to members as continuing economic challenges and a decline in membership.
