JUDGE DISMISSES STAY-AT-HOME SUIT

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit, filed in May, that challenged Governor Larry Hogan’s stay-at-home order, issued during the first wave of the coronavirus. The plaintiffs in the suit included Delegates Dan Cox, Neil Parrott, and Warren Miller of Maryland, alleging the order violated the First, Fifth, and Fourteenth amendments. The judge also dismissed claims of lost revenue by destinations affect by the order, saying it did not constitute actionable violations. The ruling comes a day after Governor Hogan announced restrictions on occupancy at stores, houses of worship and other establishments, effective tomorrow at 5 p.m. Bars and restaurants have been ordered to close by 10 p.m. nightly, beginning tomorrow.
