Local and state officials are condemning an alleged racist incident in Garrett County, involving a Middle Eastern family who were staying in the Deep Creek Lake area this past weekend. The family cut its visit short due, in part, to a man in full Ku Klux Klan attire standing near the property as they drove away. The family also reported hearing, quote, “subtle little things,” as two families gathered outside Saturday night for a bonfire. Representatives from the federal, state and county levels have condemned the intimidation incidents.
