UNION, STATE MISS LABOR AGREEMENT DEADLINE

The state of Maryland and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Maryland Council 3 missed a deadline for a new agreement. The Council includes correctional officers, state hospital workers and social workers. The Baltimore Sun reports Governor Larry Hogan’s administration offered an 11th hour contract offer of a one per cent raise, if the state exceeds its revenue projections by $200 million. That offer comes amid news of more favorable deals for the state’s law enforcement and fire unions. AFSCME had sought raises equal to other unions in the state.
