The city of Cumberland is ordering an updated economic development strategic plan from RKG Associates of Alexandria, Virginia, which provided the original base plan adopted by the city six years ago. That plan encompassed the creation of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation, and identified opportunity zones including the Maryland Avenue/Rolling Mill area, the site of the former Memorial Hospital and the Canal Place property. The price tag of the plan will be $30,000, with $10,000 coming from a federal grant, couple with $20,000 from the CEDC budget.
