Seventy-seven-year-old Albert Lee Hillegass was struck and killed on West Main Street near Armstrong Avenue in Frostburg Sunday night. He was trying to cross the street, when he was struck by a car, operated by Nathaniel Cody Lease of Hyndman. Lease tried to stop, but was unable to do so; he remained at the scene and called 911. Factors contributing to the accident were nighttime driving conditions, a physically obscured view from the crest of the hill and Mr. Hillegas’ dark clothing. Responding were the Frostburg Police Department and the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department.
