“CHARLEY PRIDE FIELD”

The Texas Rangers’ spring training complex in Surprise, AZ, now has a baseball field named for Charley Pride. The baseball team unveiled “Charley Pride Field” during a ceremony last Friday. A posting on their socials says “You are greatly missed.” Pride, a former Negro Leagues player, held an ownership stake in the team. One of his final performances was singing the National Anthem in July 2020 at the first baseball game played at the Rangers’ Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX.
Mr.Pride passed away Dec. 12, 2020, from COVID-19 complications.
