Governor Larry Hogan, First Lady Yumi Hogan and Howard County Executive Calvin Ball visited businesses along “Korean Way” in Ellicott City to condemn anti-Asian violence and discrimination. The governor says Maryland is standing together with the state’s Asian American community and taking action to combat this disturbing trend.¬† Hogan has directed State Police and all law enforcement agencies to increase enhanced visibility patrols and protection for members of the Asian community.¬† Several Asian-owned restaurants in Howard County were burglarized last month around the time of the Lunar New Year, but police have not determined if race was a factor in the crimes.
