STATE’S ATTORNEY SAYS BALTIMORE WON’T PROSECUTE MINOR OFFENSES

Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby says her office will no longer prosecute minor offenses like drug possession, trespassing and prostitution.  Mosby says data suggests there is no public safety value in prosecuting low-level crimes and they will be classified as public health issues.  She says prosecutors will instead focus on violent crimes including carjackings, murders, armed robberies and drug distribution. The policies were initially put in place at the start of the pandemic to reduce the prison population and the risk of a coronavirus outbreak.
