THREE INDICTED FOR DEFRAUDING ELDERLY RESIDENTS

Two Florida residents and a 21-year-old from Baltimore are under federal indictment in a grandparent fraud scheme.  They allegedly scammed the elderly out of more than 1.5-million dollars by posing as police or attorneys who called the victims and said their grandchild was in trouble and needed money for bail, legal fees and other expenses.  If convicted, the defendants each face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison for mail fraud conspiracy.
