STATE POLICE CRACK DOWN ON DISTRACTED DRIVING

Maryland State Police are cracking down on distracted driving.  The department conducted a statewide effort last week to attack the issue.  More than 380 citations, 474 warnings, and 40 equipment safety repair orders were handed out during the one-day event.  Authorities say that 116 citations and 119 warnings were directly related to distracted driving.  Marylanders are being reminded that it is against the law to use a handheld cellphone and text while driving.
