HOGAN SIGNS MENTAL HEALTH BILL

Governor Larry Hogan signed a measure into law this week that requires the state health department to create a mental health services program through the 2-1-1 Maryland phone system.  Under the program, texts and phone calls will be made to people who opt-in to check on their mental health status and connect them with a mental health provider.  The law is named in honor of Thomas Bloom Raskin, the son of Maryland Congressman Jaime Raskin who was battling depression when he committed suicide last year.
