The Allegany County Health Department is reporting 49 new COVID-19 cases, with zero additional deaths. The county’s positivity rate is now at 3.53 per cent, with the state at 5.67 per cent. Nearly 21,000 residents have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine against COVID. Of that number, 13,314 are fully vaccinated with their second dose. Additionally, 2,109 Allegany County residents have received the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine, which has now been paused. The Health Department has also become aware of a phone scam in which the caller states they are calling regarding the vaccination, then proceeds to ask for a social security number. They stress they will never ask for your social security number. If you receive one of these calls, please contact local law enforcement.
