OFFICER RESCUED BY BYSTANDERS

A Baltimore police officer is recovering from an accident that sent his patrol car into a creek. The officer was rushing to the scene of an attempted suicide when he collided with another vehicle in the 2000 block of Echodale Avenue in James Welling Park in northeast Baltimore. The officer’s car left the roadway and landed in a nearby creek. Officials say bystanders dived into the water to help get the officer out of the car. The officer was rushed to the hospital as a precaution. The other driver did not seek medical attention.
