A case of the UK-variant of COVID-19 has been reported in Mineral County. The variant was found during routine testing of random samples from those who have been tested for COVID-19 in the county. Health Department Administrator A. Jay Root commented that he was not surprised, as the variant has been found in the surrounding counties of Hampshire, Hardy, and Grant. Each has reported at least one case of the UK variant.
