TRAFFIC SLOWED FOR 6 HOURS FOLLOWING TRUCK FIRE

Traffic was slowed on eastbound Interstate 68, near Haystack Mountain, early yesterday morning. The brakes on a tractor-trailer hauling cattle, caught fire around 4 a.m. There were 38 animals on board, and three were euthanized; the surviving animals were loaded on trucks and transported from the scene. Traffic was slowed for nearly 6 hours, and the interstate was closed in both directions as the animals were offloaded. The interstate was reopened around 9:40 a.m.
