Twenty-one-year-old Eric Lee Smith faces charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and several counts of both first and second-degree assault, following his arrest yesterday. A 16-year-old female victim who was Smith’s girlfriend, told police that they had argued, and that argument turned physical. He allegedly tied her hands together, punched and choked her, and pulled her hair out of her head. She was treated for injuries at UPMC-Western Maryland. The C3I Unit recovered several items of evidence from Smith’s residence. The investigation is continuing by C3I and Cumberland City Police. Additional charges are pending.
