JUDGE BLOCKS HOGAN’S ATTEMPT TO END BENEFITS EARLY

A Baltimore judge is blocking Governor Larry Hogan from ending enhanced federal unemployment benefits early.  Two lawsuits have been filed by out-of-work Marylanders who are challenging Governor Hogan’s decision to end pandemic-related benefits.  Baltimore City Circuit Judge Lawrence Fletcher-Hill has ordered the Hogan administration to keep continue paying the expanded benefits until the two lawsuits against Hogan are resolved.  Trials have not yet be scheduled for either case.  Federal expanded unemployment programs are expected to end nationally in September.
