Maryland’s unemployment rate is slightly higher. The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the jobless rate rose one-tenth of a point to six-point-two-percent last month after the state lost 64-hundred jobs. Maryland’s labor secretary says the jobs report is further evidence the state is facing a serious labor shortage. Tiffany Robinson says businesses are hiring and jobs are available. She says there are over a quarter-million jobs listed on the Maryland Workforce Exchange alone, which is the most job postings of any month in the past five years.
