MARYLAND N-G CALLS OUT CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS

Maryland is in a financial hole after sending National Guard troops to Washington, D.C. earlier this year.  Governor Larry Hogan says that the state has not received reimbursement expenses from the deployment on January 6th to help provide extra security at the U.S. Capital.  Timothy Gowen is Maryland’s Adjutant General and he wrote a letter to Senator Ben Cardin yesterday explaining how the lack of reimbursement has impacted the National Guard.  The letter noted that things like training, system maintenance and even payroll could be directly affected if the money isn’t provided by August 1st.  Major General Gowen made it clear that the Maryland National Guard will always answer the call and will no doubt do it again if needed.
