Maryland health officials report 890 new cases or COVID-19 which is the highest daily count since May 1. There are four additional deaths and the positivity rate is 3-point-7-9-percent. Health officials say the increase is fueled by the Delta variant which targets the unvaccinated. According to the Health Department the risk of hospitalization or death among the unvaccinated is about 25-times higher than among the vaccinated. To date, Maryland has administered more than 7-point-2 million doses of vaccine with just over 78-percent of adults receiving at least one dose.
