Pennsylvanian correctional officers are continuing to protest Governor Wolf’s COVID mandate. The officers are objecting to both vaccination and the option of weekly testing insisting the governor is ignoring natural immunity. The Union President of Pennsylvania State Corrections Officers Association says 40-percent of prison guards in the state have already had COVID, and that should be treated the same way as if they had been vaccinated. However, health officials say COVID has not been around long enough for us to know how long natural immunity lasts and different variants of the virus will change how people who were sick with the virus months ago respond to it now. As of right now, state workers in high-congregate settings have a deadline of September 7th to be vaccinated or submit to weekly testing.
