NUMEROUS COVID CASES, BUT NO ADDITIONAL DEATHS

Allegany County’s Health Department reports 95 new COVID cases since Sunday, but no additional deaths. The local positivity rate is 9.62 per cent, and the state is nearly half of that, at 4.97 per cent. Yesterday, the Food and Drug Administration has fully approved the Pfizer vaccine for individuals 16 and older; last week, the CDC recommended people with moderate to severely compromised immune systems to get a third dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. The Health Department is offering free, drive-thru COVID testing at the Allegany County Fairgrounds on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The vaccine clinics also continue at the Willowbrook Road Office Complex on Wednesdays, from 9 to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
