CAUSE OF LAVALE WENDY’S FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION

The cause of a fire at the LaVale Wendy’s restaurant remains under investigation. The business was closed following Wednesday’s blaze, which caused about $10,000 in damage. Units were called out around 6:40 p.m., as the building filled with smoke. An employee was checked for possible smoke inhalation. It is known the fire originated in a storage area. The firefighting operation was conducted by the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department with assistance from numerous volunteer fire companies from Allegany and Mineral Counties. Also responding were the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services and the LaVale Rescue Squad.
