Maryland is announcing over eleven hundred new COVID cases, as of yesterday. Health officials reported one-thousand-113 new cases today and 16 deaths related to the virus. The percentage of people testing positive in the state slightly decreased by point-zero-three-percent, now standing at three-point-85-percent. Currently, of the 762 hospitalized, 192 are in the ICU. Health officials report the vast majority of these cases are among the unvaccinated, who are more at risk for newer, more contagious strains of the virus. Currently, 84-point-seven-percent of all Marylanders have received at least one dose of the vaccine, or what Governor Larry Hogan refers to as the “single most effective tool to mitigate the threat of COVID-19.”
