COVID-19’S OMICRON VARIANT REACHES MARYLAND

The COVID-19 omicron variant is in Maryland. Health officials say there are three confirmed cases. State health officials said Friday two of the cases are family members, one of whom is fully vaccinated and who recently got back from a trip to South Africa.  The second family member with omicron is unvaccinated and is thought to have been infected through contact with the first case. The third omicron case is someone unrelated to the first two and who is vaccinated and has not traveled. None of the three is hospitalized.
