D.C. MAN HELD ON TEMPORARY COMMITMENT

Washington, D.C. resident James Nathaniel West was held on a temporary commitment, following an assault incident in the Wineow Street area on Tuesday. A woman told police that West allegedly strangled her. He was seen a short distance away in a wooded area, and fled the scene. He was apprehended and taken to the police station for processing. He was then transported to Central Booking at the Allegany County Detention Center, charged with first and second-degree assault, violation of an out-of-state protective order, obstructing and hindering and disorderly conduct.
