HOUSE REJECTS DELEGATE BUCKEL’S REDISTRICTING AMENDMENT

The Maryland House of Delegates has rejected an amendment that would have exchanged the Democrat-led legislative commission’s congressional redistricting plan for that of the Governor’s Commission. The House turned down Delegate Buckel’s suggestion that the maps be swapped; the map is considered to be more partisan and creates a more challenging district for the state’s lone Republican in Congress, Andy Harris. For his part, Governor Hogan has threatened to veto the redistricting proposal from the Legislative Redistricting Advisory Commission.
